October 3, 2012
Pit Bulletin Legal News (PBLN) announced yesterday that their 2012 Pit Bull Advocate of the Year recipient is famed disc dog and breed ambassador Wallace. In honor of Wallace, PBLN renamed the award the Wallace Award.
PBLN presents an annual award to the individual that brings the most positive attention to pit bull type dogs and generates an atmosphere of change throughout the year. Each October the award is presented in commemoration of National Pit Bull Awareness Month.
The 2012 award was presented on October 13th in Rochester, Minnesota, to Wallace and his owners’ Roo and Clara Yori in a public ceremony. The public was invited to join the celebration at the Barnes & Noble Book Store located in the Rochester Apache Mall at 2:00 PM. After the ceremony, Wallace auto-“pawphed” Jim Gorant’s latest book, Wallace: The Underdog Who Conquered a Sport, Saved a Marriage, and Championed Pit Bulls – One Flying Disc at a Time.
Attorney Fred Kray, founder of PBLN and host of PBLN Radio, announced Tuesday night that Wallace would receive the life-time achievement award, adding “In all of the 10 years of things that [Wallace] has been through has culminated and this is something you can actually point at and say ‘this is Wallace . . . this is his legacy’.”
